Alternatives Pregnancy Center has been in the Cedar Valley offering high-quality, free and confidential services since 1991.
Alternatives Pregnancy Center exists to be a first stop for people facing an unplanned pregnancy, to address at risk sexual behavior and to help build healthy families.
We are here for you every step of the way!
Meet The Team
Executive Director of Alternatives Pregnancy Center since 2017. I have a Master’s degree in Management from Indiana Wesleyan and a background in both social work and ministry. I'm from Indianapolis and moved to Iowa from Hawaii! I find one of the most rewarding things about Alternatives is “being in a compassionate environment that deeply believes in the inherent dignity and value of each person.”
I have lived in the Cedar Valley since I was in high school, which is where I met my husband Luke. We’ve been married over 20 years and have 2 teenagers. I had been involved with Alternatives for many years, both as a volunteer and a donor. I felt God calling me to the position of nurse manager in 2011 and I feel blessed to be able to mentor and minister to our clients.
Client Service Director
I am a wife, mother, and grandmother of 3 boys. I have been at Alternatives for 15 years (5 years as an advocate and 10 years as the Client Service Director ). Since I was in elementary school the passion was instilled in me for the women and babies that we serve here. My favorite things to do are spend time with my family, fellowship with friends, scrapbooking, and home improvement projects.
Cedar Falls Site Director
I volunteered at Alternatives for four years, and have an intricate understanding of our ministry. I joined the staff in 2018 as the Development Director. My focus is on donor relations and diversifying our funding sources, to ensure long term financial stability. I recently started overseeing the Cedar Falls site as well! I am also a wife and mother of two. I love to sing and I'm on my church's worship team.
I began as a volunteer in 2018 and joined the staff as the Outreach Director in August 2022. I live in Waterloo with my husband and 2 girls, graduated from SEU with a degree in Ministerial Leadership, and am also the Kid’s Ministry Director at New Life Church. I love being able to encourage and empower people through the work I do here, while sharing that they are deeply loved by God.
Waverly Site Director
Practical Fatherhood Coordinator
I started out as the Community Relations Director here at Alternatives in October of 2021. I've transitioned into a new role in 2022 as the Waverly Site Director! I am also a wife, mother of 4, and a substitute teacher at the Denver Community School District. I graduated from UNI in Family Services in 2006 and was a stay-at-home mom for 13 years! I felt God calling me to meaningful work here at Alternatives and it’s been a privilege to join such a wonderful team!
Following my retirement in 2017 after 42 years in the automotive industry in Michigan, my wife of 34 years and I moved to Iowa. I began volunteering at Alternatives Pregnancy Center as an
advocate in 2018 and in 2022 joined the staff as Fatherhood Champion. I’ve been involved in men’s discipleship for over 15 years and find great joy in serving young men in hopes of helping them become better fathers. I am also the All Pro Dad Chapter Captain in Waterloo encouraging young fathers in the Cedar Valley. My wife and I enjoy camping, our grandchildren, and fishing when we can get away.
Community Relations Director
I’ve been the Community Relations Director here at Alternatives since September of 2022. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa where I studied Family Services. I have always been passionate about genuinely supporting women and babies in a loving way. I felt God calling me to this ministry towards the end of my senior year of college and I feel so blessed to play a small role in the lives being impacted in the Cedar Valley.
